Continuity of service:

Peace of mind:
All clients have access to BCSblue, the BCS preferred contractors list.
Greg Haywood, chief executive officer, believes that BCS is successful because it focuses on putting the right people in the right places, to benefit the client.
“Our people are all the best in their fields and many of them have worked with us for many years. We realise how important it is to have good people in management positions. Body corporate management is all about your front people, relationship management, and providing professional and first class service. This is what we seek to offer to every client.”
Mr Haywood pointed out that BCS is committed to the on-going development and education of all employees. In this respect, portfolio managers from all branches gather annually for in-house professional training days.
In Sydney all managers and key administration staff attend regular annual courses as part of their continual professional development. All managers and key administration staff have a certificate or strata manager’s licence.
As well as being highly trained and having the support of an experienced administrative team, industry associations in each state accredit BCS managers. Furthermore, the company is well represented on the board of the Institute of Strata Title Managers in New South Wales, on the council of the Institute of Body Corporate Managers Victoria and the board of the Community Titles Institute Queensland.
BCS are proud of their versatile and passionate staff. A number have applied for and have been successful in seeking, opportunities in a different office and in a different state from their original office.
According to Mr Haywood, a hidden strength of BCS is the staff’s knowledge, experience and customer service dedication.
BCS recognises the value of equipping its managers and staff with the tools and resources necessary to deliver this high level of service to their customers. With sophisticated cutting-edge technology (IBM Websphere Portal) the company remains at the forefront of the industry and offers a range of customer information services via the web.
BCS Technology
BCS offers the latest technology combined with the highest quality of administration tools and skills to provide a nationwide service that is superior in every way. BCS has created a new web portal that facilitates a workflow environment for all portfolio managers as well as providing customers with online access to view information specific to the management of their property.
The move towards this technological enhancement came about as BCS identified the need to improve the efficiency and quality of the services and systems they provided to their staff and clients.
Mr Haywood stated, “The investment we have made in portal technology allows the business to streamline information, workflow, and communications and will help reduce costs and provide our clients with high levels of service, as well as assist the company’s move into an electronic business environment and the offering of online services”.
For BCS staff, portal allows a single point of access to all applications and data. The migration towards electronic work flows will enable the business to accurately capture and store all information related to the management of a strata property in one place, instead of a variety of storage methods, for example filing cabinets, archives and so on. Ultimately, easier access to information reduces workloads and improves customer service.
BCS Blue
Another web-based tool designed to streamline work processes is the online property services directory, BCSblue. This provides a reliable, up-to-date, and secure listing of fully licensed and insured property professionals. BCSblue was established to respond to a demand for fast, easy access, to quality property service professionals. It is a tool by which lot owners and BCS portfolio managers can easily access a full range of property services.
According to Mr Haywood, “Through BCSblue we provide our managers with tradespeople who are fully licensed, with public liability, workplace health and safety and, in the case of NSW, a safe work practices certificate. While we cannot guarantee the sub-contractors’ work we can say that we have thoroughly checked all of their legal requirements.
The concept behind BCSblue is simple but effective; to provide speedy access to properly certified property contractors. This easy-to-use online directory is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week and can be searched by category and location. BCSblue offers our strata managers a sophisticated work/quotation request system that provides a streamlined repairs and maintenance work flow and saves time and money. With this website our managers are also able to track their jobs for auditing purposes. It makes placing the order easier and the tradesperson has all the information at their fingertips in a work order form delivered by email or fax.”
The BCSblue service is also available for access by the general public at www.bcsblue.com.au. This user-friendly directory provides a comprehensive list of certified and insured contractors servicing areas across Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.
“The software is totally owned, developed, and managed by BCS. Our internal IT department creates our own technology so that we can change when the industry needs us to; we do not have to wait for our software to come up to speed with new legislative developments.
This was demonstrated a few years ago when we were able to respond with our software straight away to a change within the legislation while our competitors took years to do so.” Mr Haywood said.
Having in-house IT resources has enabled BCS to adapt systems to meet the legislative changes of a constantly changing strata market, quickly and in a cost effective manner.
This flexibility and sharp response to issues that arise within the industry mean that BCS offers up-to-the-moment services that respond directly to client’s needs. The other benefit of the system is that all the information is stored more securely than having a third party store it on their computer mainframe.
